Who we are
This site is operated by Laara Digital LTD (company number 17408952), registered office 6 Darcy Close, Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, EN8 8UQ. We're the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at hello@laaradigital.co.uk or +44 7896 352996.
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, through the quote form or short enquiry form on our Contact page, or when you book a call on our Book a call page. Depending on which you use, that can include:
- Your name, business name and location
- Your email address and phone number
- Details about your project: services you're interested in, whether you have an existing website, budget band, timeline and any notes you add
- Your preferred way for us to get back in touch
- For a booked call: the date and time you chose, your website if you give it, what you'd like to talk about, and whether you'd prefer a video or phone call
We don't collect payment details, and we don't ask for anything beyond what's needed to understand your enquiry and reply to it.
Cookies and tracking
When you first visit, we ask whether you're happy for us to use Google Analytics. That's a tool that tells us, in aggregate, how people find and use the site — which pages get visited, roughly where in the world visitors are, what kind of device they're on. We use it to make the site better. It doesn't tell us who you are.
Google Analytics only runs if you choose Accept. Nothing analytics-related loads before then, and if you choose Reject it stays off. If you accept, Google sets two cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_<code>) that let it recognise a repeat visit without identifying you. They last up to two years. We don't run any advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Choosing Reject there stops Analytics loading on your next page view; to clear cookies already set, clear cookies for this site in your browser.
Separately from all of that, the quote form saves its own progress (which step you're on and what you've typed so far) in your browser's sessionStorage, so you don't lose your answers if you reload the page. It's needed for the form to work, it never leaves your device, and it clears itself when you close the tab.
How we use it
We use what you submit to respond to your enquiry, arrange and hold a call you've booked, put together a quote, and follow up about a project you've asked us about. We don't use it for marketing you haven't asked for, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Our legal basis for this is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), or, where that doesn't quite fit, our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries sent to us (Article 6(1)(f)). The spam check on the Book a call page also relies on legitimate interest: keeping the booking system from being misused.
Where you've agreed to Google Analytics, our legal basis for that is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, and doing so doesn't affect anything we did while consent was in place.
Who we share it with
Form submissions are delivered to us through Web3Forms, a third-party form-processing service that receives what you submit and emails it to us.
When you book a call, your booking is saved in our Google account: as an event in our Google Calendar, and as a row in a Google Sheet we use to keep track of bookings. Google Calendar then emails you the invitation, with a Google Meet video link. These services are provided by Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and may store data on servers outside the UK; see the Google privacy policy.
To stop automated spam, the Book a call page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a booking comes from a real person. To do that, Cloudflare processes technical details about your browser and connection, such as your IP address and browser type, only to detect bots and not to identify or track you. See the Turnstile privacy addendum. It only loads when you reach the details step of a booking.
If you accept Google Analytics, the usage information it collects is processed on our behalf by Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and may be transferred to Google servers outside the UK under the safeguards in Google's data-processing terms. Google Analytics 4 does not record your IP address, and our setup doesn't switch on any advertising or cross-site features — the consent you give is for analytics only. Google's own privacy practices are described in the Google privacy policy. If you don't accept Analytics, none of this happens.
We don't share your information with anyone else.
This site itself is hosted on GitHub Pages. Simply loading a page may generate standard server access logs (such as IP address and browser type) on GitHub's infrastructure as part of normal web hosting — we don't receive or process these logs ourselves.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry, quote and call-booking information for as long as it's useful for responding to you and, if we end up working together, for the life of that relationship. Where we don't hear back or a project doesn't go ahead, we aim to delete or anonymise what you sent us within 24 months of our last contact, unless we're required to keep something longer (for example, invoices we're obliged to retain for accounting purposes).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Confirm what information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it
- Correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your information, or restrict how we use it
- Provide your information in a portable format
- Stop processing your information where we're relying on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent you've given, such as to Google Analytics — use the Cookie settings link in the footer
To ask about any of these, email hello@laaradigital.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top.
